Organization - SMMHA Update - November 2020
Submitted By Rachael Torrance on Tue 11 03, 20
We are fast approaching the mid-point of the first half of our modified season. Thank you to everyone for all your support and understanding as we navigate through the many required guidelines and protocols put in place.

We appreciate all the time and effort put forth by various committee members, directors, and coaching staff who have been working to provide a safe and positive experience for all of our players.

We also appreciate the efforts made by players and families who have been diligent in following the guidelines in place and adhering to our new rules and routines.

As we move forward in our programming and look towards modified game play, it is important to review the protocols already in place.

We would like to remind everyone that...
  • Masks are mandatory in the Pyramid Centre and must be worn by all spectators at all times. Players are expected to wear masks until just before heading on the ice and immediately after getting off the ice. There are no exceptions to this rule.
  • Only one spectator is permitted per participant in the Pyramid Centre. This guideline excludes siblings or other family members from the arena and again, there are no exceptions to this rule. The spectator must be registered with the team for tracking purposes and should complete the screening process prior to entering the building.
  • Players are encouraged to come to the arena dressed and ready for the ice as much as possible. Spaces in the dressing rooms are limited and it is easier if players arrive dressed in as much equipment as possible to limit the amount of time in the designated lobby areas and/or dressing rooms.
  • All players and spectators must complete the screening process no later than one hour prior to the ice time. This will give coaches enough time to determine who is able to be on the ice.
  • Entrances are now labelled and players must enter via the doors assigned to their ice time. Please check the website so you know if your player should enter via Door D (blue rink) or Door B (rock rink).
  • Players will only be allowed to enter the PRC no earlier that 15 minutes before the star of their ice time.
  • The lobby area will be monitored to ensure that spectators are adhering to physical distancing guidelines and that we are within the 50 person limit enforced by the Health Unit.
Again, thank you to everyone for your continued support and diligence in following these guidelines. It is critical that we all work together to make hockey possible and to keep our programming running smoothly and in a safe manner. Please continue to check the website for any other updates regarding these rules and Covid-related protocols.
