The OWHA and OMHA require that all volunteers (coaches, trainers, managers and on ice helpers) have a current Vulnerable Sector Records Check (VSC).

The centralization of all Vulnerable Sector Checks will be conducted by the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) for all Team Officials and Team Personnel.

The following individuals who are associated with the SMMHA must adhere to the OHF Screening Policy and submit to the Ontario Hockey Federation:

Team officials (including but not limited to head coaches, assistant coaches, trainers, managers and at large team officials;

On-ice officials; and

Anyone else who, through their duties on behalf of the OHF, a Member, a hockey Club or Association, may work with children (including but not limited to on-ice volunteer, skills coaches, third party skills coaches and dressing room monitors).

Question 1: Are you a returning team official (i.e. officially rostered) from the 2024-25 Season?

Yes, and my VSC is from 2023 or later: You are only required to complete the online declaration process via the OHF Screening Submission Portal

Yes, but my VSC is from 2022: You will need a new VSC and must repeat the OHF Screening Process

No: Proceed to Question #2

Question 2: Are you 18 years or older?

Yes: Proceed to Question 3

No: VSC is NOT required, nothing further is needed

Question 3: Do you have a Spordle account and is your HCR number linked to it?

Yes: Proceed to Question 4

No/Not sure: Please see instructions below and/or refer to the OHF VSC Instructions at the bottom of this document and then proceed to Question 4

Question 4: Do you have a Vulnerable Sector Check that is less than 3 years old (2023+)?

 

Yes: Proceed to the updated OHF Screening Submission Portal to upload your Vulnerable Sector Check.

No: You need a new VSC (see below). You can temporarily complete the OHF Screening Process with a receipt of the VSC application

If you need a new VSC:


and you live within St. Marys or Perth County, you will need to get your VSC done by Stratford Police.

If you reside within the boundaries of the Town of St. Marys, you can apply to the Town for a refund of the cost of the VSC per this

or you live in Oxford or Middlesex counties, you will need to follow the steps on the OPP Police Record Check website (which has been updated)
