SMMHA Refund Policy (updated August 2023)

Refunds of minor hockey Registration, Rep, Tournament fees will be determined according to the following criteria:

  • Full refund for a player displaced due to SMMHA not offering a division or team for the player.
  • Full or partial refund for a player registered in U5, U7 or is a first year hockey player and has never been registered with SMMHA or another Association. The amount of refund will be determined based on the date the player is no longer participating and the portion of the season remaining.
  • Full or partial refund for a player deemed medically unfit and/or has an injury that prevents participation for a prolonged period of time. Written confirmation by a licensed medical practitioner must be provided in support of a refund request. The amount of any refund will be determined based on the date the player is no longer participating and the portion of the season remaining.
  • Full or partial refund for a player who is signed/rostered to a higher category centre or team. This includes any player who joins a junior team provided the junior team reimburses SMMHA the minimum as set in OMHA Regulations "Development (Release) Fees". The amount of any refund will be determined based on the date the player is no longer participating and the portion of the season remaining.
  • Full or partial refund for a player is required to leave SMMHA due to a residential relocation. The amount of any refund will be determined based on the date the player is no longer participating and the portion of the season remaining.
 
If one of the above criteria does not apply to the refund request, the following criteria will be used:

  • Full refund minus a $50 admin fee will be processed for any refund request submitted prior to September 1st.
  • Full refund minus a $100 admin fee will be processed for any refund request submitted September 1st to September 30th.
  • No refund will be processed for any refund request submitted on or after October 1st.     


All refund requests must be submitted online using the Refund/Reimbursement Request Form with appropriate documentation. Refund requests made outside the online form will not be processed. Refunds may take up to 30 days from receipt to be processed and funds issued.
