SMMHA Registration Fees and Refunds

The Executive shall set registration fees for each hockey season.  Registration procedures will be organized and coordinated by the SMMHA Registrar.

Late Registration

A late fee of $100 is applied for any registration submitted after the registration deadline date (refer to registration general information). The late fee is separate from the registration fees and is non-refundable.  If a player, due to late registration, has missed part of the playing season, a reduced registration fee may be charged based upon the portion of the season remaining.  However, a reduced fee shall only be allowed if the lateness in registration is justified (e.g. player just moved to area, new to hockey, had been injured or ill, or had been playing for a Junior Hockey Club).

Registration fees are submitted to refund.  Rep Fees and any other team fees are not subject to refund. Refunds will be granted as outlined in Table 1 and subject to the below conditions:

Table 1

Up to September 1st

100% of the registration fee paid will be refunded

September 2nd up to October 15th

75% of the registration fee paid minus OMHA fee (insurance) will be refunded

After October 15th

No refunds (subject to conditions noted below)

In addition to Table 1, refunds will be subject to the following conditions:

·         100% refund for any player who participates in tryouts for a higher level of competition and signed to a roster. This includes any U18 player who joins a junior team (within OMHA) will receive a full refund provided the junior team reimburses SMMHA the minimum as set in OMHA Regulation 11.0 "Development (Release) Fees”.

·         100% refund for any player who is displaced due to SMMHA not offering a division or team for the player.

·         Any player who leaves SMMHA before the end of the season due to residential relocation. The amount of the refund will be governed by the date on which the online request is received and the portion of season remaining.

·         Any player who becomes medically unfit or has an injury that prevents him/her from participating in minor hockey for the rest of the season.  The amount of the refund will be governed by the date on which the injury occurred or medical condition determined (noted by a physician) and the portion of season remaining. The player must provide written confirmation by a licensed medical practitioner in support of a refund request made on injury or medical grounds.

·         In the event of suspension or expulsion of a player, no refund will be granted regardless of conditions noted above.

All refund requests must be submitted online using the Refund/Reimbursement Request Form. Refund requests made outside the online form will not be processed.  Refunds may take up to 30 days to be processed and funds returned.
