Drop the Puck - Teams, Ice Schedules and Key Information
It’s time to get back on the ice! SMMHA has worked within the OHF Return to Hockey Framework, public health guidelines and Town of St. Marys arena opening requirements to put together a plan for our players to get back to Canada’s game!

SMMHA teams are based on OMHA and OWHA requirements. OMHA teams of up to 9 skaters and 1 goalie and OWHA teams of up to 17 skaters and 2 goalies have been organized as Major and Minor (where possible) and tiered based on level of play played last year and coaching staff input. Registered player numbers were used to build teams and Major and Minor ages were combined in certain cases in order to have complete teams. SMMHA worked with surrounding associations who are taking a similar approach which is important when we turn to game play. Player rosters have been loaded on the website and can be accessed by clicking on the player’s age division (some player ages have been combined to complete teams).

Ice Schedule

U9-U15 teams will receive two 50min ice times per week (U18 will receive 1.5hrs initially) and U7 will receive one 50min ice time per week all organized according to ice times allocated to SMMHA. The assigned ice times will remain in place until the second ice pad is available and our game play schedule begins (both expected in November). Ice times have been loaded on the website and can be accessed by clicking on the team’s calendar. Reminder to subscribe to your team’s calendar and add to your mobile phone calendar which will automatically sync anytime an update is made to the teams schedule.

Health and Safety

Prior to coming to the arena and players hitting the ice, it’s important all parents and players review all pandemic/COVID information and arena procedures. Please refer to the information posted on the website under the section Return to Hockey Info. Only 1 parent/guardian plus player will be permitted inside the arena and both must complete the health screening tool (refer to electronic app info coming soon) prior to coming to the arena. If the health screening tool is not completed, the individuals in question will not be able to enter the facility or participate in team activities. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak with the team trainer or head coach.

We look forward to welcoming all our players and families back to the game of hockey!
