Update - August 2020
Dear SMMHA players and families,
We hope that this letter finds you in good health as we continue to navigate the challenging realities
of life during the pandemic. As you may be aware, OHF has recently released updated information
regarding their Return to Hockey Framework.
This new framework outlines the various stages that our association can follow as we work towards returning to the arena.

Together, we have been busy reviewing this framework, along with all the guidelines sent out by HC, OHF, OMHA/OWHA, the town of St. Marys, and our local health officials. Although the game of hockey will look different when we return, we are happy to announce that we now have a
tentative start date of October 1st, 2020.
However, our return to the arena and the game of hockey will look different from previous years. Following the OHF Framework, we will first be offering an
8-week program which will focus specifically on
skill development, group training, and eventually 3x3 game play. After this period, we will re-assess the program, what stage(s) we are at, and what other opportunities we can and will be permitted to offer to our players.
Specifically, this means that we will have a new registration period beginning online at which time players can register for the 8-week program and new players will also be invited to register. The cost will be based on 8 weeks of ice usage,
starting in October until the end of November. More details about how players will be organized in their divisions and for each age group will be sent out soon along with specific dates and information about the online registration process. We will also provide specific details about health and safety guidelines for the arena and our players/families at that time. Registration cheques which were already collected earlier this year will now be void and will be destroyed.
Our Executive and members will continue to meet weekly to plan for this program, and to consider registration, costs, and other details which we will provide to our players and families as soon as possible. We are excited to return to the arena and hope that all players will be able to join us in this new approach to the game of hockey. Thank you again for your continued support, patience and understanding as we work towards providing a safe yet enjoyable return for all our players and families. Details and updates will be sent out via email whenever possible as well as posted on our website. Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you soon.
Regards,
SMMHA Executive
