Volunteers Needed! SMMHA Directors, Committees, Executive, and Communications Officer
At our AGM this month, SMMHA will be looking for volunteers to help out with the 2020-2021 season. We are currently looking for the members to fill the following positions...
Directors: This position is a great opportunity to become involved with SMMHA. Your responsibilities include attending all monthly meetings and voting on decisions which impact the day-to-day operations of the Association. We are currently seeking 8 members to fill the director positions for each three-year term which will expire in 2023.
Committees/Chair Persons: Helping out with a Committee or Chair Person is another great way to become involved with SMMHA. Please review the list of Committees/Chairs on our website and feel free to contact the current rep or let us know if you are interested in helping out with any of them.
Executive: The executive level of SMMHA consists of the Past President, President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Members of the Executive are nominated by current directors and voted upon at the AGM each year.
Co-Registrar: We are currently looking for someone to act as co-registrar for SMMHA. This person will be responsible for looking after the boys' registrations in collaboration with the co-Registrar for the girls. Responsibilities will include looking after the current boys' registrations (following regulations already in place); arranging for future registrations; compiling lists for the Coaches Committee and Executive in preparation for tryouts and evaluations; and maintaining confidentiality when managing registration files and personal contact information. For a more detailed outline of this position and/or to be considered for this position, please contact Kristene McCurdy at

Communications Officer: In accordance with guidelines issued by HC and OHF, each Minor Hockey Association is now required to have a COVID-19 Communications Officer. This person would be responsible for monitoring all relevant updates from the local public health authorities; communicating with the town and facilities on guidelines and updates; and ensuring teams and members follow all health guidelines. It is our hope that a member who has experience in the medical field will volunteer for this position. More information is available upon request at

Making sure that SMMHA continues as a successful organization requires many volunteers who regularly dedicate their time and commitment. We would encourage any member of SMMHA to consider helping out by considering one of the positions mentioned. Please contact Kristene McCurdy at
