Update
Dear SMMHA players, families, and volunteers,
We hope this message finds you and your families in good health and staying safe during these unusual times.
As you may be aware, Hockey Canada and OHF recently released their Return to Hockey Frameworks for the upcoming season. These frameworks outline many protocols and safety guidelines that we will all need to follow. Both of these organizations, as well as OMHA and OWHA, continue to work closely with government and health authorities to create plans for players and coaches to return safely to the rink.
As may be expected, this transition will be challenging and require a great deal of planning and flexibility. The return to hockey plan will evolve at different speeds and times across our province depending on the direction of our municipalities and regional health officials. Obviously our own plans depend on the decisions of the town regarding the PRC and the guidelines we all must follow for a safe and smooth reopening. And, not surprisingly, the game of hockey will also look different as we navigate through these unprecedented times.
As of now, we do not yet know when the season will begin but rest assured that the SMMHA Executive and our members will continue to meet during the next few months to work on a plan and will keep you updated as we work through this process. We thank you in advance for your support, patience and understanding as we look at various options for a safe return to the arena for all our all players, families, and volunteers.
Enjoy your summer and we will continue to post updates as needed on the website.
Stay safe and take care.
Regards,
Kristene McCurdy
President, SMMHA
