Improve playoff record to 3-0-2

By Pat Payton

A first-period goal by ABS Tracs Bantams centre Ava Ansley stood up as the game winner in a 1-0 victory over the Tillsonburg Lightning Monday night at the PRC.

Ansley beat the Tillsonburg goalie with a nice wrist shot to the top corner.

Tillsonburg put up a good fight all night, forcing St. Mays goalie Gracie Hillman to make several quality saves. The visitors pushed for the tying goal in the final 90 seconds, and Hillman made a huge breakaway stop with just 32 seconds left on the clock.

The win improves the ABS Bantam girls’ playoff record to 3-0-2 in the three-team, OWHA ‘C’ round-robin playoff series. St. Marys hosts the Huron Heat on March 9 at 7:45 p.m.
