SMMHA and the Humboldt Broncos #hockeyfamily
Submitted By jbrock on Tuesday, April 10, 2018
As the tragic events of this past weekend continue to resonate with people all across North America and beyond, we want to take a moment to send our deepest condolences to the teammates, family, friends and community members who lost loved ones in the  Humboldt Broncos accident this past Friday.

Hockey is more than a game. As active or passive participants in hockey, boys or girls, women or men, we are part of a community.  Whether you are the person playing, the person coaching, or the person helping out in innumerable other ways, hockey is the thread that stitches many communities, and at times, an entire nation together.

It is with heavy hearts that we remember those who passed away, and wish that our deepest sympathies bring some solace to those who have lost the most.

SMMHA has honoured those involved in the tragedy this past weekend at the Shamrock All Star game, by observing a moment of silence for the victims and their loved ones.  SMMHA executive have reached out to the community of Humboldt, sharing our support to them as they begin their long journey forward.  On Thursday, April 12th, everyone is invited to join in a memorial tribute to the Broncos and their hockey family by wearing a hockey jersey.

Around St.Marys, and beyond, individuals and families have left sticks on their porches... just in case.

While it is the end of the season for most, the next season will never begin for others.  Always hold their memory dear as we go forward, playing, coaching, watching and being a part of hockey at all levels... because for those involved, hockey will always be more than just a game.
