Dunnys Atom AE Win Collingwood Regional Silver Stick
Submitted By jbrock on Tuesday, November 21, 2017
Congrats to the Dunny's Atom AE players and coaches as they captured the Collingwood Regional Silver Stick championship on Sunday, with a 5-2 win over Midland.

The team beat teams from Mitchell, Dorchester, Midland and Collingwood en route to their well earned championship banner.  The team will compete in the International Silver Stick finals in Pelham early in the new year.

Report from Pat Payton, St.Marys Journal Argus

The Dunny’s Source for Sports A-E Atoms have earned a spot in the International Silver Stick tournament in Pelham early in the New Year.

Here this past weekend, Sean Porter’s Atoms went a perfect 5-0 to capture the Regional Silver Stick title.

On Friday, the Rock defeated Mitchell 3-0 and Dorchester 5-0 in their opening games.

On Saturday, the Dunny’s squad defeated the Collingwood AE3 squad 3-2 to finish round-robin play with a 3-0 record.

In their semi-final game late Saturday afternoon, St. Marys downed Lindsay 3-1 to gain a berth in the final.

Sunday morning’s championship game was a closely-contested affair.

When it was 2-2, Midland hit the crossbar, but the puck stayed. The Rock got the winner with five or six minutes remaining to play, and then tacked on a couple of insurance tallies.

The International Silver Stick tournament will be held in Pelham on the Jan. 11-14 weekend.
