Nominations for Coaches Committee members now being accepted
Submitted By jbrock on Tuesday, February 7, 2017
At the monthly SMMHA meeting, held tonight, a request for nominations for Coaches Committee positions for the upcoming 2017-18 season was made.

The Coaches Committee supports the work of SMMHA in a number of ways.  Coaches Committee members are responsible for selecting team coaches through a comprehensive application and interview process, acting as a division rep to support players, coaches and parents, and provide feedback to coaches at the end of the season through the sharing of survey results and an exit interview process.

Members of the Coaches Committee are asked to commit to a two year term, so new applicants would be asked to be a member of this group for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.  This is done to ensure some continuity and consistency from season to season within the group.

Interested candidates should be aware that the Coaches Committee meets more often than members of the SMMHA Board of Directors, particularly during the coach selection process, beginning of seasons for teams, and end of season for exit interviews.  One might expect to meet several times per month during the hockey season, and potentially more during interview periods.

If you, or someone you know, are interested in putting a name forward to be considered for one of three vacancies for the Coaches Committee, please forward your name to Pete [email protected] and he will put it forward at the next SMMHA monthly meeting, where a vote will be held to determine the new members of the committee.  If a person's name is put forward, SMMHA strongly recommends that they attend the March meeting to represent their nomination in person.

Any questions, please contact Pete [email protected] or Kristene [email protected]
