Thank you Journal Argus and Independent
Submitted By Pete Frehner on Thursday, April 7, 2016
SMMHA would like to extend our sincere appreciation to both the St Marys Journal Argus and the St Marys Independent for their extensive coverage of all SMMHA games and events thru the season.

It is our view that St Marys Minor Hockey has the best coverage of any small town newspaper in Ontario.

We appreciate the over and above effort put in by Pat Payton and Stew Slater of the Journal Argus and Dan Rankin, Spencer Seymour and Scott Maxwell from the St Marys Independent.

We see on average 3 to 4 pages of coverage (sometimes in full colour) every week in the local paper.  Other small town newspapers routinely have only 1/4 page to 1/2 page of coverage.  Reporters are consistently attending games, taking pictures, and interviewing bench staff after games to write stories for the paper.

SMMHA encourages each team to submit articles every week to the paper for review and publishing, and while some teams do provide content, some don't - thats where the local sports writers step in and do a great job writing articles to cover the local teams. Its our opinion that this effort goes well beyond what is required.

For that we wanted to extend a huge THANK YOU for all you do for SMMHA.
