Mite Tyke Initiation Program - Coaches Needed!
Submitted By jbrock on Wednesday, April 6, 2016
St. Marys Minor Hockey Association relies on having dedicated, trained
coaches to make our hockey program successful. The Coaches Committee is
preparing the coaching staff for next season. We are reaching out to
parents of our Initiation Program (mite and tyke levels) to determine
interest in coaching next season.
The mite level requires 4-6 coaches and the tyke level requires 6 coaches. A coaching staff approach has worked well over the past few seasons as it helps the coaches share the on ice practice planning, delivery of on ice stations and provides ample coverage during the season. Coaches will receive Hockey Canada's Initiation Program guideline, a full set of practice plans (as a starter), and assistance (as required) prior to and during the season from members of the SMMHA Skill Development Committee.
In order to coach at the Initiation Program level each coach must have Respect in Sport (RiS) and Coach 1 (trained). These can be obtained anytime prior to the start of the season.
If you are interested in coaching at the mite or tyke level, please send an email to Mike Morning (
[email protected]) by April 30, 2016. In your email, please confirm mite or tyke, if you have RiS and Coach 1 (trained) certification and if not, confirmation you will obtain prior to start of season. SMMHA reimburses 50% of certification cost. Selected coaches will be contacted by the end of May.
If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to contact Mike Morning, SMMHA 1st Vice President, Chair of Coaches Committee, via email:
[email protected] or phone: 519-301-2129.
