I send this memo out so that people are aware of Minor Hockey's fundraising bond system. In recent years many parents seem unaware of same, so I send out this memo.

Parents are required to help out at various fundraising events that SMMHA holds during the hockey season. So you will recall you sent a post dated bond cheque as part of registration. Parents help out by doing shifts at a given fundraising event. Each shift is in the 2 and1/2 -4 range. The numbers of shifts required works as follows:

One child in Minor Hockey – 1 shift

Two child in Minor Hockey - 2 shifts

Three child in Minor Hockey – 2 shifts

We will call this regular bond work. SMMHA also requires that parents who have a child in a SMMHA tournament also help out at that tournament in lieu of tourney fee.

For example, let's say a family has two children in minor hockey and two in SMMHA 
tournaments. Two children = 2 regular bond shifts. Two children(tourneys) = 2 shifts. So this family would have 4 shifts to do.

The events included are Equipment Exchange, Skills Clinics, Goalie Clinics, AE Tourney 
(Nov), NBC Tourney(Easter Weekend), Wing Night(Good Friday), Mite Fun Day(March), Tyke Fun Day(March), . The big event is Wing Night/NBC tourney on Easter Weekend where in I will about 13 teams and the Ae tourney Nov. 5-7(10 teams used)

Each team is assigned a particular event where the parents do their bond work. Each coach is send a sign up sheet. The coach is responsible to see the sign up sheet is filled up. If a parent can not help at that event the bond convenor keeps track of same and will ask the parent to help at an other event. The sign up sheet will have jobs and times that need to be done.

The team bond assignments depend on what teams are available for the Ae tourney Nov. 5-7. This depends who is playing elsewhere. It also depends when on the St. Marys AE teams are playing for we do not want parents working bond when their team plays which means using other teams when the St. Marys AE teams play. I cannot determine that until I get a schedule.
