Parent & Player Info (St. Marys Minor Hockey)

PrintParent & Player Info
The impact of COVID-19 has been felt by all of us - as families, workers, and communities. Our hockey family has felt the impact of this as well. As we prepare to return to the arena safely, there will be many guidelines and protocols to follow. And while the situation is still evolving, many of us will have questions about measures in place in response to COVID-19.

There are many documents already published which address concerns about hygiene guidelines, equipment, self-assessment tools, masks, and physical distancing. SMMHA has included all of these guidelines and protocols in our Return to Play Programming Plan on our website.  If you have specific questions or concerns, you can send an email to [email protected] and we will do our best to answer them or find an answer for you.

All players, parents, and members must self-screen at home before arriving at the facility, trainers will assist in conducting screening protocols with all players prior to any participation via the SMMHA website. In accordance with local public health guidelines any player who fails to do the Health Screen for each ice time will not be allowed to enter the facility.

Participants will be asked to arrive only 10 minutes before each ice time.
Everyone entering the facility will be required to wear a mask. Masks must be worn by player (except for when taking helmet on and off) and spectator the entire time until you have safely made it back to your vehicle.
All participants will be expected to use the hand sanitizer stations at the entrance and exit of the facility.
All participants will be expected to follow all directional arrows and signage when moving throughout the facility.
All participants must follow the direction of SMMHA members and volunteers as well as on-duty PRC staff.
At this time only ONE spectator will be allowed in the facility per player.  No exceptions. Please make alternate arrangements for childcare of siblings.
Absolutely NO sharing of drinks, water bottles, personal items (towels) or equipment.
No food or beverage permitted in the PRC with the exception of player’s water bottle.
Eight people are allowed in dressing room. There will be two dressing rooms per group. Two groups will practice at the same time therefore four dressing rooms per practice.
2 meter distance will continue while on the ice.
Coaches will not be able to touch your child and will have to maintain physical distancing unless in an emergency in which case mask and gloves will be worn.
If a coach has to touch players stick or ring they will use their group supply of disinfectant which will be easily accessible on bench.
Once practice is complete group will leave ice and return to dressing room to take off helmet and skates. Player MUST put on mask as soon as they take off their helmet. Players need to be out of dressing room within 10 minutes of the end of practice. PRC will sanitize dressing rooms.
Players will be encouraged to maintain a physical distance of 2m within all parts of the facility and ensure they do not come into contact with one another on or off the ice. No congregating.
Players cannot return to any hockey event or facility until they’re symptom free for 24 hours.
