SMMHA Fundraising Bond

The Volunteer Bond was instituted many years ago in an effort to ensure that all St. Marys Minor Hockey Association fundraising events are adequately staffed. The SMMHA registration fees cover ice use expenses and insurance. All other expenditures have to be financed through fundraising efforts. The bond ensures that every family contributes to maintaining registration fees as low as possible.

The parents or guardians of each minor hockey player are asked to perform their bond assignment. Families can appoint some other responsible adult to perform their volunteer duties as long as the Bond Coordinator is notified in advance. A player’s older sibling can complete a bond shift, siblings must be 14 years or older.

Rostered coaching staff received by the bond coordinator from OMHA and OWHA rep. will count as a bond for that child they are coaching. Only those names given to the bond coordinator are exempt. All other Parents are required to complete a Fundraising bond shift at any SMMHA fundraising event during the year.

*Parents will do 1 bond shift per season if you have 1 child in SMMHA. 1 cheque dated Mar.31, 2020 will be collected at your team/age group parent meeting.(you will be notified when this meeting will be held.)

*Parents will do 2 bond shifts per season if you have 2 or more children in SMMHA. 2 separate cheques each dated Mar. 31, 2020 will be collected at team/age group meetings. (you will be notified when these meetings will be held)

This year’s events are:
• - AE Tournament Oct. 18-20
• - LL Tournament Jan. 3-5
• - No Body Contact (NBC) Tournament Usually Easter weekend
• - Fundraising Event (like Wing Night) TBD

Shift duties vary between 2.5-3.5 hours depending on the event. Duties range from registration tables, score keep, running time clock, kitchen duties, running silent auction, etc. ONLY sign up for timeclock if you have done this before and are confidant time doing it for any age division.

WHEN TO SIGN UP?
Online sign up links (website called signup.com) will be posted on SMMHA website a week or two before event dates as well as a mass email sent as a reminder. This is due to tournament schedules need to be established first. Start checking the SMMHA website near the event dates for the year. Online links to sign up will become live to sign up for the spot and time you prefer.
