Message from President (St. Marys Minor Hockey)

PrintMessage from President
On behalf of the St. Marys Minor Hockey Association, I would like to welcome our players and families to another great season of hockey! It is certainly an honour to be elected again as president for the 2019-2020 season and we look forward to another exciting year together. And as in previous years, our mission remains the same - to develop and promote positive experiences in hockey for all of our players, coaches, volunteers and officials, and to continue to instill a love for the game of hockey that lasts for years to come.

Once again, we are pleased to have teams registered in various categories this season including 5 OWHA (girls) teams, 9 Shamrock league teams (rep - BB and AE), and 7 Lambton Middlesex league teams (local league). Additionally, we have 4 teams in our initiation Program (Preschool, Junior, and Senior IP). Overall, we have close to 400 players registered in our programs this season. We look forward to providing many positive experiences for these players throughout the season during our many scheduled practices, power skating sessions, and opportunities for player development.

Whether you are a parent, player, coach, volunteer, or interested fan, the SMMHA website includes information for everyone to keep updated about events in our organization. The website is easy to navigate and includes information about practice and game times, sponsors, tournaments, team events, contacts, fundraising, and resources for our coaching staff.

The success of SMMHA rests on the many volunteers who come forward to either coach, assist off-ice or participate and give back to their community by volunteering on the Executive, by serving as a Director or by helping out with one of our many Committees. As a member who has been involved in SMMHA for over 12 years, I realize the huge amount of time and hard work that it takes to organize and run our association. Without the help of volunteers, our players would not be able to be on the ice and enjoy all the positive aspects of playing hockey. All of these volunteers deserve recognition for their efforts and we would encourage you to find ways to help out during the season. If you are interested in helping out SMMHA in any way, please feel free to join us at our monthly meetings (listed on the website calendar) and/or contact a member of the Executive for more information about how you can help out.

A huge thank you again to all of our volunteers, coaches, and staff - who give their time for the most important players of all - our kids.
