Message from President (St. Marys Minor Hockey)

PrintMessage from President

Welcome to the 2018-2019 season! It is an honour and privilege to be elected as president of SMMHA. Our organization is known for its wonderful volunteers and progressive programs for players of all levels and skill. With a great group of members and Executive, we aim to provide a positive and successful experience for all players - and hope to instil a love for the game of

hockey that lasts for years.

My involvement with SMMHA spans over the course of 10 years - during which time I have held multiple roles such as team trainer, team manager, league convenor, tournament convenor, director, and chair of the Coaches Committee. I truly enjoy the opportunity to give back my time and energy to this organization, which has provided my own children with many years of great coaching and wonderful experiences in the world of hockey. I have also enjoyed working with our many volunteers - who continue to provide services and opportunities for all the players in SMMHA to enjoy.

We are pleased to have teams registered in various categories this season - including 4 OWHA (girls) teams, 9 Shamrock league teams (rep - BB and AE), and 5 Lambton Middlesex league teams (local league). Additionally, we have 3 Tyke teams, and 4 teams in our Initiation Program (Preschool, Junior, and Senior IP). Overall, we have close to 400 players registered in our programs this season.

Whether you are a parent, player, coach, volunteer, or interested fan, the SMMHA website includes information for everyone to keep updated about events in our organization. The website is easy to navigate and includes information about practice and game times, sponsors, tournaments, team events, contacts, fundraising, and resources for our coaching staff. Thank you again to all of our volunteers who help with the daily operations of this organization and ensure that SMMHA provides the best possible hockey experience for all of our players.

Without all of their hard work, our players would not be able to be on the ice and enjoy all the positive aspects of this great Canadian sport. If you are interested in helping out SMMHA in any way, please feel free to join us at our monthly meetings (listed on the website calendar) and/or contact a member of the Executive for more information about how you can help out.

A huge thank you again to all of our volunteers, coaches, and staff - who give their time for the most important players of all - our kids. Wishing everyone another great season of hockey in SMMHA!
