SMMHA Seeking Coaches Committee Members
Submitted By jbrock on Friday, January 26, 2018
As the end to the 2017-2018 season draws closer, SMMHA is currently accepting nominations for the Coaches Committee for the upcoming season.

The Coaches Committee supports the work of SMMHA in many ways. Coaches Committee members are responsible for selecting team coaches through a comprehensive application and interview process, acting as a division rep to support players, coaches and parents, and providing feedback to coaches at the end of the season through the sharing of survey results and an exit interview process.

Members of the Coaches Committee are asked to commit to a two year term, so new applicants would be asked to be a member of this group for the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons. This is done to ensure some continuity and consistency from season to season within the group.

Interested candidates should be aware that the Coaches Committee meets more often than members of the SMMHA Board of Directors - e specially during the coach selection process, the beginning of season for teams, and the end of season for exit interviews. One might expect to meet several times per month during the hockey season, and potentially more during interview periods.

If you, or someone you know, are interested in putting a name forward to be considered for one of the vacancies for the Coaches Committee , please forward your name to Chris Boyd (President) at [email protected] or Kristene McCurdy (CC Chairperson) - [email protected] .

Nominations will be accepted until the March general meeting. At this meeting, a a vote will be held to determine the new members of the committee . If you are considering this position, SMMHA strongly recommends that you attend general meetings to become aware of current SMMHA business and to represent your nomination in person.

If you have any questions about the Committe e and the responsibilities of its members, please contact Kristene McCurdy - [email protected] for more information.
